Maddie & Tae to Hit NBC’s Today Show Summer Concert Series on September 1
Duo Will Celebrate START HERE’s Debut on Iconic Morning Show’s Outdoor Plaza
Nashville, TN – With a bumper crop of back-to-school media from Teen Vogue to Seventeen, Maddie & Tae’s START HERE is striking a chord with young women coming into their own. But the debut album from only the third female duo in Billboard chart history to hit #1 with their first single is also resonating with people of all ages. NBC’s TODAY, the first national broadcast outlet to book the pair as “Girl In A Country Song” took off, will feature the 2015 Academy of Country Music Vocal Duo of the Year nominees on September 1. The performance marks their second appearance on NBC’s iconic morning show – and it’s part of a START HERE street week of activities that’s already packed. “We will never forget the morning we were sitting on our bus watching TV while en route to a radio show and all of a sudden Hoda (Kotb) from Today was talking about ‘Girl In A Country Song!’” Tae explains. “We had only written the song a few months before and to see someone like Hoda talking about it on-air was just an unforgettable moment for us,” says Maddie. “We can’t wait to go back to the show and perform for everyone on the plaza of Rockefeller Center. It’s going to be another huge moment for us!” The Platinum blondes were singled out in The New Yorker, Atlantic Monthly, NPR, Entertainment Weekly, The Washington Post three times and Rolling Stone, who picked them as the only Country act on 2015’s “10 New Artists You Need To Know.” As the August 28 street date for START HERE approaches, the press is once again gathering around the Ada, Oklahoman and the Sugarland, Texan. Currently part of Dierks Bentley’s SOUNDS OF SUMMER TOUR, Maddie & Tae will kick off their own headlining tour October 7 at New York City’s Highline Ballroom. With “Fly” riding high, the press rolling in and an aggressive schedule through the end of the year, they are gearing up for finally getting START HERE to the fans – August 28 – and they can’t wait.
