Brett Eldredge gets “Drunk On Your Love” with his new single
Following the success of four consecutive #1’s, Brett Eldredge easily has the makings to score his fifth with his new single “Drunk On Your Love,” the second from his sophomore album Illinois.
Written by Eldredge and Ross Copperman, “Drunk On Your Love” tells the story of a man’s infatuation with a woman whom he’s just recently met. After what seems to have been one amazing spur-of-the-moment night together, he just can’t shake off the effect she has on him – an effect much like that of
alcohol:
It’s not the whiskey, tequila or the wine
It’s all about the touch and the fire in your eyes
It gets me fumbling, always stumbling through a haze
I got plenty to do just laying here with you all day
The song‘s chorus, especially during the first pass, has an almost acapella feel to it, showing off Eldredge’s vocals and backed with a strong beat that makes it hard to not clap along with (more instrumental support is added as the song goes on). The lyrics, which have a rolling flow to them and instantly get stuck in your head, further describe the lingering effect she has on him:
I woke up, up – still drunk, drunk
On your love, love – on your love, love, love
Now I know why-y, I’m feeling so high, high
‘Cause I’m still drunk, drunk on your love, on your love
Eldredge’s well-known crooning style really sets the tone, adding to the song’s romantic essence with loving warmth and conviction, making it easy for the listener to feel what is going on within the lyrics, and wishing that she was the one who’s love he’s drunk on.
“Drunk On Your Love” hits country radio on November 9 and is available for purchase on all outlets.
