Jennifer Nettles Is on "Fire" During CMT's Next Women of Country Tour

Surprise Duet with GRAMMY-Nominated Sara Bareilles During NYC Stop Smoking Hot Tara Thompson Opens the Show

NASHVILLE, TN – Jennifer Nettles continues to set the Country world ablaze as the CMT NEXT WOMEN OF COUNTRY TOUR stopped at the famed Beacon Theatre in New York City on 1/20. The Superstar performed a 90-minute set of signature hits and introduced new music from her forthcoming album on Big Machine Records, slated for release this Spring. The crowd cheered through the booming vocalist’s renditions of the CMA and ACM nominated hit “Baby Girl” before belting out in unison the GRAMMY Award winning “Stay,” both of which Jennifer penned. She also previewed a few fresh tunes: “Drunk in Heels” “Chaser” and “Sugar,” which she shook up with Salt ‘N’ Pepa’s 90’s hits “Whatta Man” and “Shoop.” While introducing her new single, “Unlove You,” Jennifer told the audience, "Country music celebrates realness and it heals. This is my new single and I hope it guts you in the most beautiful way possible.” Jennifer also performed perennial favorites like Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m on Fire” and Bon Jovi’s “Who Says You Can’t Go Home,” a duet that topped the Country charts for the pair. A highlight of the evening came when Nettles or Jennifer brought out her dear friend Sara Bareilles, both dynamic talents harmonizing throughout “She Used to Be Mine” from the upcoming Broadway musical “Waitress.” Music and lyrics by Bareilles, the show opens for previews in March 2016. Earlier in the night, newcomer – and BMLG labelmate – Tara Thompson offered the audience a taste of what to expect from her upcoming debut album on The Valory Music Co. throughout her four-song set. Pulling from experiences in some of Nashville’s iconic honky-tonks, the fiery songstress worked the crowd like a well-seasoned entertainer during her first performance in New York City. Tara crooned through ballads “Vows” and “Pregnant at the Prom” before turning up the volume for her take on a love song, “Jail.” The East Tennessee native shared anecdotes about her true-to-life songwriting and closed with her debut single “Someone to Take Your Place,” which she dubs her “sassiest song yet.” The CMT NEXT WOMEN OF COUNTRY TOUR hits Lancaster, PA (2/24). Brandy Clark and Lindsay Ell round out the lineup. For a full list of tour dates, visit www.JenniferNettles.com.
