Musicians On Call Spreads The Healing Power of Music To Veterans

Musicians On Call Celebrates National Salute To Hospitalized Veterans Week With 11 Performances At Veterans Facilities Across The Country Spreading The Healing Power of Music To Over 200 People

In celebration of National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans Week Musicians On Call (MOC), a nonprofit that brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities, spread the healing power of music with performances at eleven Veterans facilities across the country last week. During National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans Week volunteer groups, Veteran Services Organizations and community partners are invited to go to facilities and personally thank Veterans for their service to our country, as well as educate the public on the opportunities available for volunteering within the facilities. Musicians On Call volunteer musicians spread the healing power of music to over 200 patients, families and caregivers. To date, MOC volunteers have performed for over 30,000 Veterans, family members and caregivers and climbing. They have also performed for nearly half a million patients, families and caregivers overall.

“Musicians On Call is proud to bring music to Veterans every week, but during National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans Week it's especially meaningful,” said Pete Griffin. “We celebrated the service of these amazing men and women with 11 visits to Veteran facilities nationwide that included bedside performances in New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Nashville and Murfreesboro. To date, MOC volunteers have played for 30,000 Veterans and caregivers and counting.”

“With outstanding partners like Musicians on Call, who on a weekly basis, bring the healing power of music to our Veteran patients as well as bringing in nationally known recording artists to give back to those who have given so much, we are able to show our Veteran patients our community is truly thankful for their service and sacrifice,” said Tom Gallagher, Chief, Voluntary Services at Tennessee Valley Healthcare System.
