Nashville, TN – Big Machine Records announced today the signing of trio MIDLAND. Lead vocalist Mark Wystrach fronts the trio’s rich sound that is rounded out by lead guitarist Jess Carson and bass player Cameron Duddy. Originally formed in Dripping Springs, Texas, the band is rooted in tradition both in sound and style. Midland, who initially garnered attention playing clubs in the Texas region, intentionally nods to the wild west with Country music that is reminiscent of the 1970’s and 80’s with a modern day twist. “A voice like Mark’s is so rare - it’s one of those voices that you just hope is out there and something we’re always on the lookout for - and when you find it, it literally changes the colors in the room,” shared Big Machine President/CEO Scott Borchetta. “Together with Jess and Cam, this is one of the coolest and most interesting, energetic and charismatic bands to burst onto the scene in quite sometime. Expect big things… " Midland joins a diverse BMLG roster whose imprints include Superstars Taylor Swift, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Jennifer Nettles, Florida Georgia Line, Rascal Flatts, Hank Williams Jr., Martina McBride, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Cheap Trick and Nashville natives The Cadillac Three. Fans can experience the band’s live show this spring as they play SxSW and Stagecoach Festivals. “The band is very excited to jump in feet first with the Big Machine team. We have been playing honky tonks around the South and Southwest for the past few years and are anxious to expand our audience,” shared Mark Wystrach. “We are a fusion of so many different influences and genres from traditional country to southern rock, rhythm and blues to soul music, and look forward to collaborating with our Nashville brothers and sisters to make great music for years to come.” Midland is currently in the studio with Shane McAnally (Sam Hunt, Reba McEntire, Kacey Musgraves) working on their first release for Big Machine Records.
