Country Artist Shane Michael Taylor Celebrates Cerebral Palsy Month with Release of Powerful Music V
Country artist Shane Michael Taylor is shattering stereotypes with the release of a new music video for his single “Warrior Cowboy.” The 32-year-old, who lives with a severe form of cerebral palsy, co-wrote the song and stars in the video. The powerful storyline addresses topics that hit close to home for Taylor like the loss of loved ones, military sacrifice and living with disabilities. View the music video on YouTube here.
“This is one of my favorite songs that I’ve written,” says Taylor, who navigates the world in a wheelchair. While the Waterbury, CT native struggles to communicate verbally, he has been writing lyrics since the age of five when he taught himself to type with his nose.
After Taylor finishes writing a song, his melodies are brought to life with the help of talented Nashville vocalists like Josh Helms, who lent his voice to “Warrior Cowboy.”
“The song is about the spirit that forever shines within all of us, even through the worst storms and our darkest moments,” Taylor notes. In the video, Shane plays a young man who is both heartbroken and proud when his brother leaves him to join the military. The story takes an unexpected turn when Shane’s character receives news that his brother was injured in war.
“Warrior Cowboy” is the latest single off of Taylor’s I Will Stand album, which was well-received by both fans and critics alike upon its release this past fall.
"There are dozens and dozens of songwriters in Nashville but none with a story as inspiring as Shane Michael Taylor's. I Will Stand is an incredible, beautiful accomplishment." - M.B. Roberts, Senior Features Editor, Parade Magazine
“While each song is an incredible work of art on its own, it’s Shane Michael Taylor’s astounding story that truly inspires.” – New England Country Music
“I Will Stand is one of the most touching albums of 2015, as Taylor truly lives the songs he writes. Uplifting and inspirational, I Will Stand is a testament to his own determination and spirit.”– The Daily Country This video release is significant not only because of the song’s touching message, but also because March is National Cerebral Palsy Awareness month. In addition to his music career, Shane travels the country as a motivational figure and has penned an inspirational audio book entitled Living This Rodeo. In the audiobook, Taylor explains how learning to type with his nose changed his life, allowing him to build his career and live his dream.
