Art comes in many forms and when you can merge several of those passions, why would you run away from it? Singing from infancy, Aimee picked up on performing music early in life – she joined band and chorus in elementary school, began learning the guitar, piano, and bass while a pre-teen, and as a teenager found herself as a supporting lead in musical productions, competing in New York state’s All-State program, and being urged to audition for several of the new emerging reality singing competitions by family, friends and mentors.
In early 2003, she found herself hyperventilating before she was to audition for a musical theater program at a prestigious college in New York – although she had an extreme passion and respect for performing, it was not what she wanted to do with her life. Writing had been her calling, having spent most of her time outside of rehearsals and competitions scribbling away in a notebook and on scrap pieces of paper. After one semester in college as a Journalism major, family hardships happened – on a split decision she relocated to North Carolina. Although Shania, Toby, the Kenny’s, and Tim all resonated through the speakers at home, it was there, on a back road between Asheville and Canton, that she fell in love with country music.
After a short tour in the United States Navy, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in English from the State University of New York at New Paltz, followed by a Masters of Science in Information Science from the University at Albany, she found herself as a librarian in the Tampa Bay area. It was there she was pulled in the country music media – shortly thereafter she found herself setting home in Nashville.
When she's not conducting an interview, writing a review or trying to peddle her stories, you can find her with her head in a book (once a dork, always a dork).
